Creating Podcasts

On the Internal Server there is a special place to put pod-casts.

When a podcast is put in this place with the right name format, within 20 minutes it is automatically loaded up on to the web server for people to be able to listen to.

VERY IMPORTANT NO CAPITAL LETTERS IN FILE NAMES.

To get a podcast working.

1. On your studio PC you should have a special Drive under
   
   • My Computer called
   • P: (Public on Samba)
2. This drive is your connection to the Internal Server for where you are to put pod-casts.
3. Inside P: (Public on Samba) there is a directory called news.
4. Inside News we are interested in the various directories called Samoa_News and Talafou etc.
5. For example inside Samoa_News are all the pod-casts for Samoa News in the format of sn11-06-01.mp3
   1. Notice the file is a mp3 file.
   2. the first two letter (must be lower case) is the name of the podcast (sn - Samoa News).
   3. the date is of the format year-month-day, and must be TWO numbers with a minus (-) separating them.
   4. so the file sn11-06-01.mp3, is an mp3 file for Samoa News of a date of 2011, June 11th.
   5. Once today's file is placed in p:/news/Samoa_News with in 20 minutes it will be uploaded to the website automatically.
   6. Also notice that files may have a sn11-06-01.cfg file, I use this to control the movement of the .mp3 file to the web-server.
      • DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE
6. Inside Talafou are all the pod-casts for Talafou in the format of tf11-06-01.mp3
7. And so the direcotires go on for all the podcasts we have on our website.
8. Some pod casts may need a .msg file, in this case what ever is in the .msg file for that day will be displayed alongside the podcast on the website as a descritpion.

Podcasts from the Access Radio location

• Create the mp3 file, making sure to naming it correctly.
• Create the msg file, making sure to naming it correctly.
• Open up the Padlock program WinSCP
• Login to the server.
• This should open the Lefthand screen in your Downloads
  And the Righthand screen with all the podcast folders
• Copy the correct mp3 file to the correct podcast directory
• It can take a bit of time to copy each file

When uploading an MP3 file for a podcasts we want information on the MP3 Title and MP3 Contributing artist.

We want the file name to remain the same:

1. Change the Title to the name and date of the program
2. Change the Contributing artist to the announcer.
